Based in Mauritania, Kinross Tasiast is set to become one of the great gold finds of our generation. It is the first mine in a highly prospective greenstone belt, located within an extensive gold system that is largely underexplored.
Job Description
Transfer of Knowledge – Advise, Mentor and Coach the complete Mining team, developing them such that they become self-sustaining in their roles and grow into their responsibilities with regards to Health, Safety, Environment, People, Gold produced, Total Spend, Unit Costs, Continuous Improvement(CI), Production and Efficiency.
Job Responsibilities
Health, Safety & Environment
Comply with all Kinross / Tasiast / Mauritanian Occupational Health, Safety & Environmental requirements, Laws and Regulations.
Conduct periodic safety inspections with members of the Mining team.
Respond to emergencies that could cause injury to personnel or loss of production.
Provide coaching and subject matter expertise in accident / incident investigations to enable management to identify areas for improvement in work practices.
Mauritainization
Transfer of Knowledge from expatriate to National employees and the promotion and support of National employee training and skill development (IDP).
Ensure that individual training / development is conducted in accordance with succession planning commitments.
Continuous Improvement
Identify ways of improving the effectiveness and efficiency of mining processes that will impact positively on equipment productivity, and in turn improve production and reduce costs
Ensure continuous improvement through appropriate measurement, action plan, reporting and follow up action; and develop continuous improvement culture in work place.

Production & Efficiency
Work with the Mine Maintenance Department and Training Department to identify areas of the operation that are impacting negatively on equipment reliability and develop acceptable solutions
Advise the National staff of available options to ensure compliance and execution of the daily and weekly plans
Advise the National staff of available options for the safe and timely execution of tasks / projects assigned to them
Engage National staff in dialogue to resolve task and production problem resolution in an acceptable time frame
Mentor / Coach the National staff in prioritizing planning and mining efforts

Education and Experience
Education
Undergraduate University Degree (4 years) preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft word , excel , and power point
First aid certificate
Driver’s license
Experience
Proven experience and success in transfer of knowledge to a National workforce
Minimum 10 years experience in large open pit mining operations.
Minimum 5 years supervisory experience in large open mining pit operations.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written and the proven ability to facilitate groups.
The role would be 15 days on/6 days off from Las Palmas or 6wk on/3wk off from home
